A Marvel fan creates a movie poster that spotlights the new Thor Jane Foster reforging Mjolnir in anticipation of Thor: Love and Thunder.
A talented fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has created a movie poster for the upcoming release of Thor: Love and Thunder that features a rebuilt Mjolnir.
The poster, shared by Instagram user @carpaa2011, spotlights Mjolnir with power glowing from the hammer’s sealed cracks and references Natalie Portman’s return as Jane Foster. The artist noted in the caption, “I wanted to make my own teaser poster to better control my hype for the film,” adding a couple lightning bolt emojis.
The artist has also created posters for other MCU titles, including Moon Knightwhich is currently airing its first season on Disney+, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is scheduled to make its theatrical premiere on May 6.
Directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, Thor: Love and Thunder will be the 29th film in the MCU. The story will see the titular God of Thunder taking a soul-searching journey throughout the galaxy and teaming up with Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie and Jane, who is now a superhero in her own right, to stop Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale.
The first trailer for Love and Thunder was recently dropped, giving fans a glimpse of what the movie has in store. Many viewers spotted a possible continuity error: Thor’s eyes are once again both blue. Having lost one of his eyes during Thor: Ragnarokthe character received a prosthetic replacement during the events of Avengers: Infinity War, which was notably a different color. It remains to be seen if this change is actually an error or a subtle plot point.
The trailer hasn’t only sparked debates around the continuity of the MCU; it has also ignited a wave of fan speculation. For example, one theory posits that Gorr is potentially from one of the planets mentioned in ChloĆ© Zhao’s Eternals and that the planet’s destruction during the birth of a Celestial may influence the villain’s ultimate goals and motivation. Another theory suggests that Gorr may actually be the original avatar of Ammit, the Egyptian goddess featured in Moon Knight.
More insight about Thor: Love and Thunder has also been coming from wealth of merchandise for the movie, with an official replica of the reforged Mjolnir revealed. Some items may include spoilers — a major plot point concerning Jane and her journey within the film was seemingly given away in the description featured on a replica of her superhero helmet.
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to hit theaters this summer on July 8.
