Sean Penn and his ex-wife, Leila George, were spotted having an amicable encounter at a beach in Coney Island on Monday, nearly a month after they finalized their divorce.
The friendly exes were photographed in good spirits as they both took turns petting their dog, which they adopted together in 2017.
It appears George, 31, stopped by to hangout with Penn, 61, while he took breaks from filming for his upcoming film, “Black Flies,” at the Brooklyn tourist spot.
The Australian actress appeared dressed down with gray sweats, a light blue hoodie, tank top, sneakers, black sunglasses, and her hair half-up, half-down in a scrunchie.
Penn, meanwhile, seemed to be dressed in character in jeans and navy blue T-shirt with a first responder logo on it.
“Black Flies” is a drama about a young paramedic who makes his way through his first year on the job in New York City, according to IMDb.
Penn’s costar, Tye Sheridan, was also present for the beachfront shoot dressed in a blue T-shirt, jeans, and a red bomber jacket with gold wings.
Paparazzi captured a film crew recording the actors while filming scenes, in which they walked and talked on the beach, Surf Avenue, and the West 8th Street subway entrance.
French filmmaker Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire, who was also at the shoot, was photographed at one point glancing down at Penn’s dog, while a crew member gave George a hug.
The actress’s warm welcome to the film set comes just four weeks after she and Penn were declared legally single.
The “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” star previously admitted that he was the one who “f–ked up the marriage” because he only saw George on “a day-to-day basis.”
“We were technically married for one year, but for five years, I was a very neglectful guy,” Penn told Hollywood Authentic in April 2022.
He added, “[I] allowed myself to think that my place in so many other things was so important, and that included my place in being totally depressed and driven to alcohol and Ambien at 11 o’clock in the morning, by watching the news, by watching the Trump era , by watching it and just despairing.”
George filed for divorce in October 2021 after just one year of marriage. Penn was spotted wearing his wedding ring days later.
Although the couple split, George has continued to work with CORE Response, Penn’s nonprofit organization which he created in response to the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.
She captioned a selfie and videos taken from war-stricken Ukraine on Instagram in March 2022, “Crossed the border today into Lviv, Ukraine with @coreresponse team (I’m back in Poland now, very safe)… with continued help CORE can support the needs of refugees in this city (mattresses/ blankets/ shelter/ cash etc.)”
Penn arrived in Ukraine as well — just weeks prior — to film a documentary amid Russia’s invasion.
Reps for both actors did not return requests for comment on a possible reconciliation.
